Meet Vintage Cheese
Get Ready For A
Journey Back To
The Glory Days
Of The 60s & 70s
Get ready for a musical journey back to the glory days of the 60s and 70s with Vintage Cheese — Adelaide’s favourite purveyors of unapologetically cheesy classics.
Vintage Cheese proudly play the songs other cover bands are too embarrassed to touch. Nothing is off-limits. The bold, the quirky, the forgotten gems and those “no way they’re playing this!” tunes that somehow become the biggest singalongs of the night.
Fronted by the larger-than-life Pete Steer and backed by five seasoned musical misfits, this six-piece band delivers a high-energy show packed with nostalgia, laughter, audience participation and plenty of surprises.
Whether it’s a pub, club, festival, private function, corporate event or community celebration, Vintage Cheese know how to get a crowd singing, dancing and reliving the soundtrack of their youth.
Don’t expect cool.. Expect fun.
Our Muscicians
Brett - Drums
Meet Brett “The Big Cheese” Partington - the engine room of Vintage Cheese and the guy somehow tasked with herding an eclectic rabble of blokes toward a common musical goal (without losing his mind).
Brett has played in plenty of Adelaide bands over the years, with early dreams of rock stardom, before realising his true calling was joining a cheesy band rolling out the songs other bands wouldn’t dream of playing.
Vintage Cheese is exactly that - a fun boys’ club with questionable song choices, plenty of banter, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
Brett’s drumming style is solid, punchy, and the kind of steady backbeat his bandmates know they can trust… especially when things get loose.
If someone forgets where the bridge is in the song, Brett’s already there… deciding which drumstick to throw at them. 🥁
A lifelong lover of classic 60s guitar-driven songs, big hooks, proper grooves, and music that gets people moving on the dance floor (whether they planned to or not 😂), Brett believes great bands should sound tight, feel good, and never take themselves too seriously.IPete - Vocals
Meet Pete - the powerhouse frontman of Vintage Cheese, the ultimate party band - serving up those gloriously cheesy old songs everyone forgot about… sometimes for a very good reason 😂
But somehow… when Vintage Cheese plays them, the dance floor comes alive! These are the songs no other band dares to touch - the guilty pleasures, forgotten classics, and absolute bangers that get people singing loud, dancing harder, and laughing all night long.
Growing up, Pete’s musical education came straight from his Dad’s vinyl collection! While other kids were outside kicking the footy, young Pete was glued to the record player soaking up the sounds of The Seekers, Olivia Newton-John, Nana Mouskouri, The Beatles and all the smooth Crooners of the 60’s.
That passion, ear for music, and love of classic songs helped shape Pete into the versatile, crowd-loving performer he is today. From heartfelt ballads to absolute party chaos - Pete can tackle it all with style, humour and a whole lot of cheese!
Over the years, Pete’s sung just about everywhere imaginable - from 90’s bands, weddings, funerals, special events, church services, gospel performances, massive community Christmas carols in the park with crowds of over 1000 people… to the band closest to his heart - Vintage Cheese! And if there’s one thing Pete loves as much as performing, it’s the fun and chaos he shares with his bandmates.
One minute he’s channeling Elvis, the next Cher, then suddenly Tom Jones, Boy George, John Denver or Karen Carpenter! Pete’s wild ability to imitate famous singers means absolutely nothing is off limits. If it’s fun, nostalgic, ridiculous or danceable - Pete’s all in.
And his motto says it all:
“The harder you dance… the better we play!”Mike - Bass Guitar
BAND PROFILE 🎸🧀 Mike Horvat (Bass Player with Vintage Cheese) 🎸🧀
Meet Mike who forms the backbone of the rhythm section for Vintage Cheese with his catchy and solid bass grooves that bring the old cheesy hits to life!
Growing up in a musical family with father playing accordion & harmonica and brother on the drum kit, Mike has never been far away from creating and playing music as his favourite hobby.
He loves rhythm & blues music and lists his heroes as James Jamerson (Motown Sessions), Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn (Blues Bros), Paul McCartney (Beatles), John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) and Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy).
Over the years Mike has played bass in many bands including Benjamin Gunn, Minnie & the Moochers, Big Black Cadillac and The Holeproofs.
What he is looking forward to now is conjuring up his lively brand of bass magic for the cheese dripping hits of Vintage Cheese 🧀Rich - Sax
IMeet Richard “Stiff Cheddar” Steer - Vintage Cheese’s sax-wielding, harmonica-blowing, sun-kissed country export from Pinnaroo and, quite possibly, Australia’s finest deaf saxophone player.
A title he wears proudly - helped enormously by the fact he’s never heard a single complaint about his musicianship in his entire life. 😄
Richard is a ripping good country bloke with a heart as big as the Mallee.
While others bring chaos, ego, or questionable song choices, Richard is the glue - the born peacemaker and quiet ego stroker keeping a collection of musical personalities pointed in roughly the same direction.
A natural people pleaser, he loves keeping his mates happy and lifting the mood.
Richard also confidently backs himself as the “looker” of the band - a claim not universally endorsed. 😄
He enjoys rolling out his famous country dance moves, with a stage presence clearly forged at farm shed parties and regional weddings.
Underneath the banter is one of the genuinely good blokes - loyal, warm-hearted, dependable, and exactly the kind of mate every band needs. 🎷🧀 😂Rob - Lead Guitar & Vocals
Meet Rob Cherin — our sensational lead guitarist and occasional frontman for some of Vintage Cheese’s rockier tunes. But Rob’s real superpower? His ridiculous musical memory.
The man seems to have thousands of songs stored in his brain without a lyric sheet, chord chart, napkin, or any cheat notes in sight.
A lifelong blues lover, Rob has played in numerous Adelaide bands, bringing decades of musical experience, class and calm to The Cheese.
With his gritty vocals, effortless musicianship and passion for great music, Rob helps give Vintage Cheese its distinctive sound and energy.
Rob is an invaluable part of the band — and proof that, like good cheese, good musicians only get better with age. 😄 🎸🧀Salvatore - Rhythm Guitar
Meet Salvatore La Pira — Vintage Cheese’s rhythm guitarist, unofficial court jester, and resident Italian Stallion.
Salvatore brings the power chords and the fun in equal measure. Before joining this questionable outfit, he played in a successful 80s cover band, developing a love for the songs, sounds, and hairstyles of the decade.
Salvatore keeps rehearsals lively with his cheeky grin, quick wit, and relentless ability to keep everyone laughing.
When he’s not playing guitar, there’s a fair chance he’s feeding the band. Rehearsal breaks regularly feature homemade pizzas and Italian savouries that taste absolutely bellissimo.
Frankly, morale would collapse without him. Underneath the jokes and mischief is a crafty musician and genuinely good bloke who helps make Vintage Cheese the fun, chaotic, and slightly unpredictable outfit it is today.
Salvatore is proof that every great band needs a rhythm guitarist, jokester, and a supplier of excellent Italian food. Fortunately for us, Vintage Cheese got all three in one package. 🎸🧀 😄Band Enquiries
